Numbles
A numble is a 16 x 16 pixel creature that becomes your token's picture. Launch without a picture and you can add one for 0.01 SOL.
Nobody can know which numble a launch gets until after it has launched, its creator included. It is drawn from a random number that is published at least 30 seconds after the launch lands.
Examples, drawn by the same code that draws every numble: one of each tier, common to cosmic.
What it is
Think of a numble as the totem of your token. It is made to help devs launching with no token pictures, no separate token created.
Every numble is drawn on a 16 x 16 grid: a body, eyes, a mouth, arms, legs and a top, each drawn on one half and mirrored to the other. A numble can have no mouth, arms, legs or top. Its tier sets its colours, and 1 in 10 also rolls a motion.

One flat colour, from 16 brighter ones.
Two colours, one above the other, from 10 pairs.
Shaded silver, bronze, jade or obsidian, lit from the top left, with a glint and a sparkle.
Shaded gold, with a glint and a sparkle.
Rainbow, iridescent or aurora colours that keep shifting, with a sparkle.
Deep space inside a rim of light, with five twinkling stars and a moon circling the frame.
Exact weights out of 65,536: cosmic 0.125, mythic 4, legendary 60, epic 448, rare 1,536, uncommon 12,288 and common 51,199.875.
Motion
1 in 10 numbles rolls one of 9 motions: it can bob, blink, look around, chatter, wave, walk, shiver, wiggle or dance. A motion that needs a missing part never rolls, so a numble without legs never walks.
Mythic colours, and a cosmic numble's rim, stars and moon, move whether it rolled a motion or not.
More examples
Twelve random draws from the same code, at the same odds, so expect most of them to be common. They are examples, not any token's numble.
How you get one
- Start a launch in the app and leave the token picture empty. The numble offer shows in the first step.
- Switch it on. The 0.01 SOL goes into your launch transaction itself, so you pay it only if the launch goes through.
- Launch. Your token's metadata points at its numble's image from the start.
- The launch screen shows a question mark until your numble is drawn, then reveals it with its tier and odds.
Nobody knows it before launch
drand is a public randomness beacon. A numble is drawn with the random value of the first drand round scheduled at least 30 seconds after the launch block, so that value does not exist yet while the launch is signed or while its block is built. Neither the creator nor the validator building the block can steer it.
That value is used only once its signature checks out against drand's public key, so no server passing it along can swap in another. The draw waits until the launch is final on chain, and drawing again gives the same numble.
This relies on drand never publishing a round early and on the chain's clock running less than 30 seconds behind real time. The draw is run by xNUMBER's indexer, so it also relies on the indexer and its chain node reading the launch block correctly.
If the draw has to wait
- Until its drand round is out and the launch is final, a numble is pending. The launch screen shows a question mark and keeps checking for 10 minutes, then says the numble will show on the token page.
- Until the draw, the image address answers "not found" and tells caches not to keep that answer.
- If drand stops publishing, numbles wait for it. Nothing is redrawn: when the round arrives, the numble is the one those inputs always gave.
